Dan is an experienced and innovative digital storyteller who assists organisations to better communicate with customers, stakeholders and the broader public.
He is passionate about helping to uncover an organisation’s stories, presenting them in compelling ways and using the tools of digital publishing and social media to seek and attract new audiences.
Dan has a background in journalism, having worked for Fairfax Media as a Senior Writer, Editor and media executive for more than a decade and a half. In those roles he was prominently involved in leading the change from a “print first” environment dominated by traditional newspaper practices to a “digital first” newsroom where new audiences and new techniques of communication were successfully incorporated. He has worked in roles as diverse as Sports Editor, Deputy Director of News, Weekend Editor and Podcast Executive Producer.
Following his career at Fairfax, Dan worked at the Australian Renewable Energy Agency as Head of Content. At ARENA he oversaw a range of strategic communications activities, leading a team that created a highly successful content ecosystem, featuring a website, social media channels, email newsletter and a hugely-successful podcast series.
Dan believes in evidence-based communications that are careful to measure what audiences want and how they behave but is also passionate about the creative side of storytelling. He brings both a high-level understanding of the analytic tools that typify digital publishing as well as the instincts of a career journalist for the kind of stories that will resonate with different audiences.
