“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead
In grappling with problems of increasing complexity, Amy is passionate about combining evidence-based data-driven approaches with the voices of real people who have first-hand experience. This democratic process allows for more nuanced understanding of issues and challenges, and grounds solutions in lived reality as opposed to simply theoretical.
Using a holistic design approach, Amy enables people to see the whole system (not simply their own role within it), and to play a more active role in finding solutions and creating sustainable change. This approach sits easily alongside Te Ao Māori and Pasifika worldviews, meaning that solutions are inclusive and culturally appropriate.
Amy has a background in Public Policy, Public Health and Anthropology. She has applied design thinking in policy and strategy development, campaign management, and in working directly with communities on local projects. Amy is a skilled facilitator with experience working alongside diverse communities on sensitive topics such as drugs and alcohol, and mental health. As a natural problem-solver Amy thrives on complexity, but she is also passionate about accessibility and creating content that is easy to understand and engage with.
